So I should definitely be going to bed instead of blogging, but I was just thinking about a topic that got me so upset I had to write about it. I can't rant about this stuff at school, because I know my friends would just gang up on me and shoot me down. (I love my friends, but this whole "shoot-people-down-without-even-listening-to-them" thing gets less amusing after the 100th time.)
If you don't like it when people rant in blogs, well then I suggest you move along now.
So recently at our school the senior boys have taken to messing with the freshmen. At lunch, they drive them out of the tables and then when they move, they actually throw garbage at them. But the worst part is everyone (I mean EVERYONE, even people I really like and the teachers) thinks it's absolutely hilarious. Am I the ONLY one that sees this as bullying? I mean, freshman year was a really crappy year for me, so I don't think those kids actually need someone to make their life miserable.
But this isn't even really about the freshmen. I mean, it is, kind of, I really wish the senior guys wouldn't do that. Maybe the freshmen ARE really shallow and deserve it, and maybe the bullying doesn't even bother them.
No, what gets me the most is just the fact that everyone in the school looks up to these arrogant, attention-whoring assholes. They are like Gods. They can do no wrong. Even the teachers love them.
Seriously, if someone tells a story and mentions one of these guys, that story is automatically guaranteed a laugh.
Like, normally, if you tell a story in which so-and-so told a really sexist joke, a normal reaction would be: "Wow. That guy's an asshole." But if you replace that name with one of the names of these revered senior 'popular' guys a normal reaction would be: "OMG I can't believe he did that, that is TOO funny."
We like to pretend it's not true, but it is. And worse, I'm no better because I don't do one thing to stand out against this. If I did, I would be hated by the entire school. That's not even an exaggeration. And I really kind of hate myself for not being brave enough to stand up for my principles, but at the same time I know I never will.
If you guys have ever read Pants on Fire by Meg Cabot, I really think the situation at my school is similar to that. I only wish the endings could be the same.
RAWR, sorry I'm so angry but really, it pisses me off. And it's hard to believe I am the only one who sees these guys for what they are, but that's the way it seems.

They sound like major tools to me. We only had one incident like that but it was these junior girls and guys being douches to this one loner kid. I lost all respect for them, even though some of them were my friends. The situation at your school seems really effed up. And I feel your pain. It just sucks because those guys will probably grow up to be the same assholes they are now. :(
